CUSTOMER COMMENTS: The Horshoe Cafe in Reading: IÍve been there twice and I wont go back again because there are better places to get BBQ in the region.
I went to the Horseshoe on the basis of a Howie Carr advertisement on WRKO, but was disappointed because the product was overcooked to the point that it was dry and hard. I went there 2 or more times to reassess, since it is on my way home from work, but I probably wont return.
I have found several places I like for BBQ in the metro area; The Porterhouse Cafe in Somerville; Redbones in Davis Square, Somerville; Jakes in Danvers; The Tennessee Barbecue, near the North Shore Mall, Bison County in Waltham.

CUSTOMER COMMENTS: What a pleasant experience we had at the Emerson Inn in Rockport. It seemed like something out of a movie. The well maintained 19th Century Inn, piano player, dinner on the huge screened in piazza overlooking the gardens and ocean view.Expertly prepared food served by a pleasant and attentive yourn lady. Rockport is a dry town so BYOB.

CUSTOMER COMMENTS: What a pleasant experience my wife and I had at the newly renovated Capt's Grill located in former home of the Drydock restaurant at Picketing Wharf. The food was delicious, reasonable and cleverly presented. Our waitress Kathleen, was very attentive. We're going back again.

CUSTOMER COMMENTS: Nice atmosphere and food presentations. Even though our party of four arrived early, we had to wait for nearly an hour for salads and entrees because the computer entry to the kitchen failed. Our salads were served on warm plates and entrees served on cold plates.

CUSTOMER COMMENTS: On a recent trip up route 1 we came accross Striper's Grill. The parking lot was pretty full so we chose the restaurant for our lunch. Our party of four seniors barely made it up the two flights of stairs to get to the dining room (no elevator).
We were seated in the center of a large brighlly lit room with a wall of dirty windows overlooking the water (the room was very clean).
Our waitress who was very busy but jovial. She was full of sweeties, honeys and darlings. We all chose seafood. Two Fish and chips which were fried perfectly with a wondeerful batter, one Shrimp Scampi ala Greque. The six shrimp were cooked nicely but the sauce was powerfully sour tasting. One Baked Struffed Shrimp with too many dried bread crumbs. All of the entrees came with a trip to the amply stocked salad bar and dessert bar.
This place seems very popular but needless to say this was a once in a lifetime trip for us.
